"Green design" serves as a fundamental approach and plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable development and practicing the concept of ecological civilization. To promote the ideas and methods of green design, facilitate exchanges among various industries, fields, and countries, and ultimately reach sustainable development goals, the World Green Design Organization, in collaboration with multiple parties, is launching a case collection campaign for the "2023 World Green Design Report".
Content to be collected
Cases are sought globally from industries and fields including but not limited to energy, construction, building materials, textiles, consumer electronics, transportation, urban planning, landscape design, agriculture, business models, green finance, and new materials. All cases must reflect the guiding role of the "green design" concept, taking into account environmental, economic, social, and technical impacts throughout the entire lifecycle of the case. Examples include but are not limited toenterprises, projects, products, business models, financial solutionsetc. The submitted cases must describe the projects from the perspective of “green design,” fully demonstrating the guiding, instrumental, and structural roles that the concept of green design plays throughout the project’s life cycle. 1. Environmental Requirements
The application of "green design" concepts in the production, implementation, use, and operation of projects can effectively reduce environmental impact as well as risks to human health and safety. Considerations include resource consumption, energy use, waste generation, ecological damage, and measures to mitigate effects on health and safety.
2. Economic Requirements
Applying "green design" principles during project production and implementation helps businesses or investors achieve economic growth. This can be achieved through the use of cost-effective green materials, improvements in production technologies, equipment upgrades, investment in human resources, and recycling of resources. 3. Social Requirements
During the production and implementation of the project, while ensuring that design elements meet basic environmental and cost requirements, the needs and expectations of end-users are also taken into account. Green design is integrated into all stages of reproduction, distribution, exchange, and consumption to achieve environmentally friendly outcomes. 4. Technical Requirements
The project possesses the overall functionality of a green design system throughout its production and implementation processes. It takes into account factors such as the durability, upgradability, maintainability, recyclability, and disassemblability of various components (products). It also checks whether there is a user manual available and whether a systematic and standardized after-sales service and recycling system has been established to meet the requirements for reuse and recycling.
Submission Method
Case submissions must be recommended by an institution recognized by the World Green Design Organization. Individual submissions or those from companies without prior invitation are not accepted. The deadline for case submissions is 16:00 on April 15, 2023, Beijing time.
Report Release
The World Green Design Organization will organize experts from home and abroad to evaluate the submitted cases. Up to 500 typical cases will be selected and compiled into a book. In-depth analyses and interpretations of these key cases will also be provided. The report will be released globally during the World Green Design Forum.
Activity Process

Phase 2: Result Approval (May–June) Authoritative experts from fields such as climate change, ecological environment, design, and finance around the world will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the submitted cases to determine the list of annual winners. The winning companies and designers will be considered candidates for the World Green Design Contribution Award and the World Green Design Grand Prize. The list will not be made public before the official announcement. Phase 3: Preparation for Release (June–October) The organizers will notify the winning companies and recommenders, provide the audio and video materials needed for the release, and assist with related work at the release event. Phase 4: Result Release (During the World Green Design Forum) The organizers will hold a report release event during the 2023 World Green Design Forum to present the annual green design cases. Representatives of the outstanding cases will be invited to share their successful experiences in green design, exchange ideas, and discuss how to use green design strategies to further promote green development, achieve carbon neutrality goals, and foster sustainable development.
Report Promotion
Multiple case sharing seminars will be held during the report compilation period, along with promotional activities nationwide. The selected cases will be published through the official media platforms of the World Green Design Forum, partner media of the World Green Design Conference and live streaming platforms, overseas media platforms, and partner media channels of the World Green Design Organization.
