# 2023 Jiangsu Province Postgraduate Energy Saving and Low-Carbon Scientific Research Innovation Practice Competition In order to actively respond to the national "3060" dual carbon strategic goals, we will implement the Ministry of Education's "Carbon Neutralization and Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan for Colleges and Universities" and the Jiangsu Province Postgraduate Education Quality Improvement Project of the Jiangsu Province Department of Education (2021-2025) Implementation Plan and other documents to improve postgraduate scientific research and academic innovation capabilities, the 2023 Jiangsu Province Postgraduate Energy Saving and Low-Carbon Scientific Research Innovation Practice Competition sponsored by the Jiangsu Province Engineering Class 1 Postgraduate Education Steering Committee and jointly organized by Jiangsu University and Nanjing University of Technology is now held. ##The meaning of competition Since 2019, the "Jiangsu Province Postgraduate Energy Saving and Low-Carbon Scientific Research Innovation Practice Competition" has been successfully hosted for four consecutive times. It has been recognized and supported by various universities and graduate students, forming a brand. The competition aims to guide graduate students to carry out practical and applied innovative research, enhance the guidance and motivation of graduate students 'innovative practical activities, use competitions to promote learning, teaching, and reform, help the connotative development of graduate education and continuously improve the quality of graduate talent training. ##Competition Theme ** Low-carbon empowerment, green future ** ##Competition content Closely following the theme of the competition, physical production (including models), software, design and other works embodying new thinking and new ideas. The content of the works mainly involves (but is not limited to) power engineering and engineering thermophysics, energy power, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science and engineering, control disciplines and engineering, safety science and engineering and other disciplines. ##Competitors The team leader must be a full-time master's degree and doctoral degree student. Contestants must compete in groups, with no more than 7 people in each group and 1 instructor. In order to further expand the influence and improve the internationalization level of the competition, international graduate students are encouraged to participate as team leaders or members, compete on the same stage, and give priority to entering the finals under the same conditions. ##Competition Schedule and Arrangements 1. Competition registration and work declaration: Contestants complete the work before September 30, 2023 and submit the entry registration form, application form, and instructions (print one copy of the application form and instructions, and the instructions are attached to the back of the application form and bound together., and seal. Determine the competition excellence award and the list of finalists. 3. Publication of works: Works that pass the preliminary evaluation will be publicized for 3 days. 4. Finals: The finals are tentatively scheduled to be held in mid-to-late November 2023. ##Review Rules (1) Review rules Adhering to the principle of "fairness, openness and fairness", the instructor of participating works shall not serve as the preliminary evaluation and final judges of this competition, and the participating works shall not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights. The judges of the competition will conduct preliminary and final evaluation of the work based on the scientific nature, feasibility, innovation and economy of the work, and propose a list of winners. (2) Review process The competition is divided into two stages: one is the preliminary evaluation and the other is the final. 1. Preliminary evaluation. The preliminary evaluation stage includes formal inspection, expert preliminary review, expert review, publicity and other links. The finals include work presentation and questioning, final review, publicity and other aspects: (1)Statement and questioning of the work: The presentation time shall not exceed 10 minutes, and the questioning time shall be approximately 10 minutes. During the presentation and debate of the work, the background and significance of the work, research content, innovation points, achievements, etc. should be explained to the judges. During the work evaluation process, the judges should follow the principle of independent work and provide separate work defense scores based on the final scoring standards. (2)Final review: After the defense results are ranked, the quota ratio is set based on the competition awards to determine the level of each work award. (3)Publicity and awards: The winners of the final works will be announced on the website. The closing ceremony of the competition will award awards based on the publicity results. Preliminary evaluation: Each work will be reviewed by 3 judges, and an expert avoidance system will be adopted, that is, experts will not review works from their own universities. The defense judges of each defense team are composed of 3-5 experts. All experts implement an avoidance system for the school's entries, and no 2 or more experts from the same university may serve as judges on the same defense team. The judges of each review group score the works of the group based on the scoring points, and the staff calculate the score of each work separately, and then rank the group based on the scores. Finally, the scores of each group are comprehensively ranked.
