Event Overview

In the heart of summer, the 8th “Value Co-creation” China Enterprise Sustainable Development Case Competition, initiated by the Simeng Corporate Social Responsibility Promotion Center and academically supported by Fudan University School of Management and Fudan University Oriental Management Institute, arrives as scheduled. This year’s competition features six awards: the “Value Co-creation Excellence Award,” “Sustainable Development Leadership Award,” “ESG Governance Excellence Award,” “Dual Carbon Goals and Climate Change Contribution Award,” “Rural Revitalization Award,” and “Sustainable Product Award.” The aim is to identify cases that excel across all dimensions of value co-creation, with one outstanding case selected as the annual champion. In November, we will host an offline themed forum on value co-creation, inviting experts and scholars in ESG and sustainable development, corporate managers, social organizations, and media outlets to share cutting-edge insights and witness the announcement of the winning cases. We sincerely invite enterprises and individuals to participate in the selection of outstanding sustainable development cases and to share their innovations and efforts in promoting sustainability with peers in the industry.

Background of the 2023 SelectionThe 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasized the need to advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization. This concept has provided guidance for the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises, focusing on high-quality growth, common prosperity for all, harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, and the pursuit of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Over the past few years, Chinese enterprises have accumulated experience in ESG management. As regulatory authorities and industry self-regulatory bodies clarify ESG requirements and influenced by standards set by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), ESG management in these companies is increasingly becoming scientific and standardized, marking a transition toward ESG transformation. Meanwhile, global attention to climate change continues to rise, and China’s dual carbon goals are being supported by increasingly robust mechanisms that promote green and low-carbon lifestyles. Carbon management and climate change mitigation are being integrated into business strategies and product development. According to the 2022 China Sustainable Consumption Report by Business Strategy Consulting, consumers generally believe that low-carbon consumption can help achieve the dual carbon goals, with 67.6% of respondents stating that it can effectively contribute to this objective.

2023 Selection PlanStarting from 2023, the selection process was fully upgraded to the “Value Co-creation” China Enterprise Sustainable Development Case Competition. It is explicitly focused on case collection and promotion centered around enterprises, emphasizing the significant role of corporate actions in driving orderly societal transformation. It also highlights leading practices where enterprises build their own sustainable development ecosystem networks by collaborating with various stakeholders. The six major awards aim to identify cases that excel across all dimensions of value co-creation, with one outstanding annual case selected from them.### Value Co-creation Excellence Award (3–6)Outstanding cases are selected based on the six-step framework for social value co-creation, with 1–3 cases awarded the Excellence Prize.### Sustainable Development Leadership Award (1–6)Recognize leaders (individuals) who have driven their companies to achieve significant results in sustainable development. While acknowledging outstanding corporate cases, this award emphasizes the guiding role of such leaders in fostering innovation in sustainable development.### ESG Governance Excellence Award (3-6 awards)Selected are cases where sustainable development has been integrated into an organization’s top-level strategic planning, an excellent governance framework has been established in practice, and successful integration of business growth with sustainability has been achieved.### Double Carbon Goals and Climate Change Contribution Award (3-6 awards)Awarded to companies that took the lead in committing to carbon neutrality goals, took proactive actions in mitigating climate change and adapting to it, as well as in low-carbon transformation, and publicly shared their progress and contributions.### Rural Revitalization Award (3–6 awards)Outstanding enterprise cases are selected that have leading management goals, innovative working methods, and solid results in promoting common prosperity and rural revitalization.### Sustainable Product Award (6–10 awards)Sustainable product cases already launched on the market by enterprises, with significant environmental or social benefits (such as green financial products and green products), are selected.
