###Background of the Initiative Achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality involves a broad and profound systematic transformation in the economic and social sectors. To promote the clean, low-carbon, and efficient use of energy and advance the low-carbon transition in industries, buildings, transportation, and other fields, as well as to identify outstanding low-carbon, zero-carbon, and negative-carbon technologies to create leading zero-carbon demonstration projects, the Energy Investment Committee of the China Investment Association launched the “Zero-Carbon China” campaign for collecting excellent cases and technical solutions in 2020. After two years of submissions, over 150 cases and solutions from local governments, central and state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, foreign companies, and universities were received. After multiple discussions and evaluations based on key criteria such as emission reduction capacity, scalability, innovation level, cost-effectiveness, and social benefits, 54 outstanding cases and solutions with significant demonstrative or promotional value were selected to enter the “Zero-Carbon China Project Database.” These have received widespread recognition from all sectors of society and have made positive contributions to advancing energy transition and helping achieve the “dual carbon” goals. Given these circumstances, the Energy Investment Committee of the China Investment Association has decided to continue the 2023 campaign for collecting “zero-carbon” technical solutions and typical cases. By integrating the evaluation standard system of “Zero-Carbon China,” it aims to find the best zero-carbon solutions for different application scenarios and foster interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral, cross-industry, and cross-border exchanges and collaborations to help cities, rural areas, and enterprises achieve carbon neutrality at an earlier stage.
