activity background

Since 2018, 127 countries and regions have proposed "carbon neutrality" goals or visions. On September 22, 2020, China announced its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. At present, all industries around the world are moving towards carbon neutrality. In today's international situation, countries have become more aware that the fields of climate change and carbon neutrality have become an important way and starting point for international cooperation. In order to mobilize companies to formulate emission reduction targets based on climate science, the Center for Global Environmental Information (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) jointly launched a global initiative--the Science-Based Carbon Targets initiative (SBTi), which promotes companies to take more proactive emission reduction actions and solutions to enhance their competitiveness in the transition to a low-carbon economy. It also provides independent evaluation and approval of greenhouse gas emission reduction targets set by enterprises. As of May 10, 2023, SBTi has 5017 participating companies. Including: Coca-Cola, Tesla, Volvo, Watsons, Adidas, Dell Computer, Amazon, General Motors, Hewlett-Packard, IKEA, Jaguar Land Rover, Volkswagen, Johnson Electric, Alibaba, Jingdong Logistics, Tencent, Lenovo, Vision, Dongfang Special Steel, Yutong Bus, Zhongtong Express and other well-known companies.

In order to help enterprises adapt to the domestic and foreign policy background of a low-carbon economy more quickly, respond to the pressure of carbon emission reduction in global supply chains, and promote the scientific process of corporate ESG management, internal innovation and sustainable business practices, Tianjin TEDA Low-Carbon Economy Promotion Center and World Wide Fund for Nature will Co-organize in Hefei City "Scientific carbon goals help enterprises sustainable development"Salon activities.
