The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to “actively and prudently advance carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.” This is a major decision and arrangement made by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, taking into account both domestic and international situations, and it provides fundamental guidance for advancing these goals. In 2022, the Shanghai municipal government also formulated the “Action Plan for Promoting the Development of Green and Low-Carbon Industries in Shanghai (2022–2025)”, aiming to leverage Shanghai’s advantages across all industries and value chains, seize opportunities early, take the lead in technological and model innovation, and promote mutual progress between carbon neutrality goals and economic growth, thereby driving high-quality development of the economy and society. To foster innovative development in Shanghai’s green and low-carbon industries, strengthen the cultivation of innovative talents, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, deepen integration among industry, academia, and research, and ensure the implementation of related projects, the first “Tianjiao Bay Cup” Green and Low-Carbon Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is now being held. Theme of the Competition

“Green Development, Carbon-Driven Future” Eligible participants:

The competition focuses on areas related to green and low-carbon development, including energy conservation and emission reduction, environmental protection, new energy, new materials, and circular economy. Based on the maturity of the participating projects, they are divided into an enterprise group and a college student entrepreneurship group.

1. Corporate Group. Unlisted companies that have been legally registered and are primarily engaged in product research, development, production, manufacturing, or services in the green and low-carbon sector. These companies have no intellectual property disputes, operate in compliance with regulations, enjoy a good reputation, and have no negative records.
2. University Student Entrepreneurship Group. This group consists of current university students or those within one year of graduation who possess core technical achievements, a complete entrepreneurial team, and a business plan. They have the potential and plans to achieve marketization and corporate operations in the short term. to the schedule

• Supporting Policies- 1. Outstanding projects in the competition may receive up to 800,000 yuan in support from the Tongji Entrepreneurship Fund if they meet the criteria, and they can also participate in Tongji’s entrepreneurship training courses or series of entrepreneurship workshops.
• 2. The park provides specialized services, including up to 6 months of rent reduction for settlement, free access to Tongji entrepreneurship workshops, one-on-one entrepreneurship coaching, training programs, and investment and financing connections.
• 3. Industrial resource connections are offered, leveraging the park’s industrial clustering advantages to support the implementation and development of participating projects in areas such as market access, technology, and talent.
• 4. After projects are established in Hongkou, they can benefit from various science and innovation support policies provided by Hongkou District, including startup funds, subsidies, talent apartments, and residency assistance.
• 5. Financial support is provided, with investment and financing institutions collaborating with the park giving priority to supporting participating teams and enterprises.
• 6. Enterprises or teams that reach the finals will have access to various exchange and networking events organized by the park, such as the “Carbon Future” technology salon, master forums, and business networking meetings.
• 7. Award-winning enterprises or teams will be given priority in being recommended to participate in municipal and national-level competitions.
