The 2nd China Postgraduate “Dual Carbon” Innovation and Creativity Competition## Overview of the CompetitionThe China Postgraduate “Dual Carbon” Innovation and Creativity Competition is established with the concept of “Inspiring wisdom through creativity and driving development through innovation.” Centered around the theme of “Smart Dual Carbon, Creating a Better Future,” it aims to stimulate postgraduate students’ innovative awareness, enhance their innovative and practical abilities, and cultivate innovative talents for the country, society, and enterprises. In 2022, the First China Postgraduate “Dual Carbon” Innovation and Creativity Competition (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”) was hosted by the Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University.
In March 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized at the 9th meeting of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission that achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality is a broad and profound systematic transformation in the economy and society. It is necessary to incorporate carbon peak and carbon neutrality into the overall plan for ecological civilization construction, and achieve the goals of reaching carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060 as scheduled. Under the “dual carbon” goals, achieving efficient and green development has become an urgent social challenge, and technological innovation plays a fundamental and strategic role in supporting ecological civilization construction and advancing these goals. Against this backdrop, the competition aims to further enhance postgraduate students’ understanding of the “dual carbon” strategic concept, raise their awareness of serving major national strategies, motivate them to participate in dual carbon initiatives, improve the quality of training in related fields, deepen industry-university-research collaboration, and facilitate the transformation and incubation of research projects and team achievements, thereby contributing to the realization of the “3060 dual carbon” goals. The 2nd China Postgraduate “Dual Carbon” Innovation and Creativity Competition 2023 is hosted by Northeast Forestry University.
Competition Schedule
1. Release of competition notice
Date: June 7 Details: The official competition website will publish comprehensive information such as participation methods, registration guidelines, work requirements, and award categories for this edition. 2. Competition registration period
Date: June 7 – August 24 Details: Participating teams must register on the competition’s official website during this period and undergo eligibility verification. 3. Submission Deadline for Entries
Date: June 7 – August 24 Teams should submit their entries online by the deadline in accordance with the competition requirements. The organizing committee will be responsible for collecting entries, compiling statistics, and coordinating related matters. 4. Preliminary Review and Announcement of Qualifiers
Date: September 15–17 Details: The preliminary round will be conducted through an online evaluation process. Participants submit their entries via the competition’s official channels. Judges will assess all successfully submitted works online based on the innovation of the topic, the rationality and creativity of implementation, and the standardization of written expression. The top-performing entries will be selected to advance to the next round based on their overall scores. The list of teams advancing to the next round will be announced in late September 2023. 5. Evaluation of the Next Round and Announcement of Advancement Results
Date: October 14–15 Details: The next round will combine online pitch sessions (which may be adjusted to online formats if necessary due to pandemic conditions) with offline evaluations. Participants will present their projects, and judges will conduct offline assessments of the entries based on topic innovation, implementation rationality, creativity, and written expression standards. The best entries will be chosen to proceed to the national finals based on their overall scores. The list of teams qualifying for the finals will be released in late October 2023. 6. Final Round EvaluationDate: October 28-29 Format: The finals will combine offline presentations with Q&A sessions (arranged based on specific circumstances). The national finals will be held at Northeast Forestry University (subject to adjustments due to epidemic prevention measures). During the finals, each team can conduct a live system demonstration, including but not limited to using PPTs to explain their proposals, answering experts’ questions. Experts will score the entries based on factors such as originality, application potential, and presentation quality, and the final rankings will be determined by the overall scores.
