#Flexible Packaging Circular Economy Development Forum Flexible plastic packaging accounts for about half of plastic packaging. The huge volume makes it impossible for society to ignore its problems. The so-called "white pollution" largely comes from easy-floating plastic bags and film packaging. The growth of the domestic e-commerce market and the growth of the prefabricated vegetable field are further promoting the application and market expansion of flexible plastic packaging. While demand is growing, the current adoption rate of flexible plastic packaging reduction and reuse models is extremely low. Paper and coated paper packaging are beginning to show their mark in certain application fields, but performance limitations can only replace the limited application fields of plastics; Therefore, Recycling is still the main body, while flexible plastic packaging recycling challenges are huge: light weight, difficult to collect and concentrate, ink and adhesives are difficult to remove, different materials cannot be compounded and separated, etc., and back-end demand is difficult to form large-scale high value. In recent years, many initiatives and actions have been carried out around the world for soft packaging, but there are still few projects that can truly form practical solutions, and many projects are still in progress. In addition, domestic regulations for flexible plastic packaging are not clear. Material substitutions have been developed by brands and their suppliers in some applications. Paper packaging has appeared in some relatively simple application areas, such as packaging of dried fruits and confectionery products, and bio-based materials. Investment and application of PHA and PLA are also expanding, but their performance still needs to be continuously improved, whether it is fiber-based materials or bio-based plastics; Some domestic companies specialize in the physical recycling of plastic packaging films, and there are also companies in coastal areas that have recycled a certain scale, but downgrading applications are relatively common. Although there are many voices of chemical recycling and solvent recycling has also been heard, there are almost no continuous commercial operation units in China. Another phenomenon is that domestic physical recycling equipment for flexible plastic packaging is in strong demand in the international market and has many overseas customers. However, these equipment is not used much domestically. The development of high-value applications of physical recycling in China is relatively lagging behind. Most of the research projects on the market come from Europe and the United States, while most of the relevant flexible plastic packaging production technologies, such as deinking, BOPE, solventless adhesives, high-end barrier materials, etc., come from European, American and Japanese companies. Although the industry has always promoted a single direction for recycling through design, it is not clear how to build the entire system. In order to promote the process of domestic flexible packaging circular economy, comprehensively sort out the current situation of the industry, learn from international best practices and clear positioning, and develop locally suitable technical solutions, Beijing Shichai Environmental Consulting Co., Ltd., under the guidance of the Allen MacArthur Foundation (UK) Beijing Representative Office, China Packaging Federation and the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ), has joined forces with partners such as Baolute, Junuo Environmental Protection, Blue Crystal Microbiology, Zhangzhou Huansheng and Gongye Technology to organizeAugust 29-31, 2023 (check in the afternoon of the 29th)在Xiamen, Fujianheld**"Flexible Packaging Circular Economy Development Forum"**。
During the forum, there will be arrangements to visit and learn about the current automated soft bag sorting factory in China: Xiamen Low-Value Recyclable Material Sorting Center and Zhangzhou Huansheng, the largest soft film recycling enterprise in China. Starting today, the registration channel officially opens, and the registration deadline is August 20. In order to ensure an open, transparent and sufficient forum effect and attract all stakeholders in the industry chain to participate, this forum only charges a registration fee of 1800 yuan per person, and participants bear their own accommodation and transportation expenses. When the number of applicants reaches the limit, the registration process will also close immediately. Please download the registration form through the link below.
