The call for open innovation projects in the Shanghai Green and Low-Carbon Technology Innovation Competition (Special Session for Returned Overseas Talents) is about to begin.
To implement the requirements of relevant documents such as the “14th Five-Year Plan” for ecological and environmental protection in Shanghai and the Implementation Plan for Accelerating the Establishment of a Green, Low-Carbon, and Circular Economic System in Shanghai, and to accelerate the development of a market-oriented green technology innovation system, encourage research on green and low-carbon technologies, and speed up the transformation of green scientific and technological achievements, the Shanghai Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Service Base, jointly established under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, the Baoshan District People’s Government, and SHENENG Group, was officially launched in November 2022. Under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau and the International Cooperation and Exchange Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the base launched the Shanghai Green and Low-Carbon Technology Innovation Competition with the theme “New Green Momentum, Low-Carbon Future.” The competition aims to promote open innovation in industries through methods such as “project bidding,” strengthen research and application of major green and low-carbon technologies, foster new drivers for the development of green and low-carbon industries, deepen integration between industrial chains and innovation chains, and collectively support the country’s “dual carbon” strategic goals. This competition has received active support from large enterprises such as SHENENG, Shanghai Electric, Baowu, Schneider, and PepsiCo, as well as participation from numerous technology-based innovation startups. It is also guided and supported by the Shanghai Association of Returned Overseas Students (Shanghai Federation of Overseas Returnees). Sub-competitions will be held sequentially. For this sub-competition, experts who have returned from abroad and specialize in green and low-carbon fields have been invited to serve as judging guests. Competition Theme, Date, and Venue

(I) Priority is given to large, medium, and small technology enterprises in the green and low-carbon sector, as well as returnee talent projects. (II) Core members of corporate management teams or technological innovation teams should generally hold a master’s degree or above or have a professional title at the deputy senior level or above. (III) Participants should demonstrate innovation capabilities and high growth potential, have no intellectual property disputes, maintain standardized process management, enjoy good social reputation, and have no adverse records. Other requirements shall be subject to the official competition announcement.
Event Schedule
(I) Project pitch. Participants will introduce their projects through an 8-minute pitch, with a recommended maximum of 15 PPT slides. (II) Expert evaluation. Experts will score projects based on various criteria such as market prospects, technical advantages, and team composition, using a total score of 100 points, and the finalists will be ranked according to the average scores of the expert panel.
