Nominate for the Global Energy Prize – 2025 Applications Still Open!

The Global Energy Prize stands as one of the world’s most esteemed awards, celebrating groundbreaking achievements in energy science and innovation. For over two decades, it has recognized visionaries whose work drives the future of sustainable energy.

Program overview

The prize fund of the award totals 39 million roubles. The names of the laureates will be announced in the summer of 2025. The award ceremony will be part of the Russian Energy Week, an international forum that will be held in Moscow from October 15 to 17, 2025. The call for applications, which lasts for 110 days, represents the first stage of the nomination cycle. Received submissions will be assessed by independent experts according to a fixed set of criteria, including scientific novelty and practical value. Fifteen of the best applications receiving the highest score (five applications in each category) will make the short list from which the International Committee led by Nobel laureate Rae Kwon Chung will select the winners.

Who can apply

Submissions in three categories will be accepted:

• Traditional Energy

• Non-Traditional Energy

• New Ways of Energy Application

According to the Statute on the Prize, the following two categories of individuals are ineligible to apply:

• Persons performing solely administrative and/or organizational functions cannot be nominated

• Self-nomination for the Prize is not allowed

candidates must be nominated by peers who can provide a strong case, including research work and key achievements. Applications can be initiated by scientists, researchers and representatives of academic organisations ready to provide detailed justifications for the application, as well as a list of the candidate’s research papers and key merits.
