On February 6, 2023, ABB's "Digital Smart Cup" Building Digital Intelligent Design Competition was officially launched, aiming to deepen the green and intelligent concepts in the field of smart buildings, explore the promotion and application of new technologies and new products, and accelerate electrification, automation and digitalization. ABB's "Digital Intelligence Cup" Architectural Digital Intelligent Design Competition is an architectural design competition sponsored by ABB Electric and guided by the Architectural Electrical Branch of China Architectural Society for working electrical designers across the country.

With the theme of "Painting·Digital City, Building·Smart Future", the competition aims to recruit "low-carbon building energy efficiency solutions" and "smart building control solutions" with innovative capabilities, and build low-carbon building models with new technologies, products and solutions., empowering beautiful green living spaces; using intelligent technology to assist architectural design to create smart buildings and achieve a low-carbon future.

This competition sets two sets of propositions

Part.1 Low-carbon building energy efficiency solutions

The design solution can solve building energy efficiency management and achieve low carbon and energy conservation.

Solutions and products can adopt but are not limited to the following examples:

Part.2 Smart Building Control Solutions

Competition system description

1) Competition area setting

This competition has 5 divisions across the country:

• 1. Shanghai Zhejiang
• 2. Southwest Jiangsu and Anhui
• 3. Two lakes, Fujian, Jiangxi and South China
• 4. northwestern China
• 5. Northeast Shandong

2) Competition registration

Registration method: Online registration, applicants submit on the ABB registration link as required.

entry conditions

• 1. In-service electrical designer of the design institute certified by China.
• 2. Based on the design plan of the real project, the project is in the design stage before the registration date.
• 3. The intellectual property rights of the competition plan shall be owned by the contestants or require authorization from the relevant intellectual property owners.

3) Partition screening

First, internal experts in the competition will screen the materials according to the registration requirements to ensure that the contestants meet the qualification and compliance requirements of participating designers, and sign compliance documents as required.

Ten external tutors from five regions selected 2 winning design plans for each region based on the association's review requirements and were qualified for the finals.

4) Pre-match counseling

Internal experts conduct all-round technical exchanges with designers based on the needs of contestants.

External mentors provide one-on-one tutoring to successful finalists.

5) Final awards

Each contestant will give a speech in 15 minutes, and external judges will conduct 5 minutes of comments + scoring.

The first, second, third and excellence awards will be selected by external judges, and the awards will be awarded at the annual meeting of the Architectural Electrical Branch of China Architectural Society.
