The 2023 Government Work Report outlined eight key priorities for the year, including promoting a green transformation of the development model. Efforts will be made to further advance environmental pollution prevention and control, strengthen infrastructure for urban and rural environmental protection, and continue implementing major projects for the protection and restoration of important ecosystems. The report also calls for cleaner and more efficient use of coal along with technological innovation, as well as accelerated development of a new energy system. Policies supporting green development will be improved, circular economy practices promoted, resource utilization made more efficient, energy conservation and carbon reduction pursued in key sectors, and sustained efforts taken to safeguard clean skies, clear waters, and healthy soil. Promoting a green transformation of the development model is crucial for achieving high-quality development. To pursue Chinese-style modernization, it is necessary to advance both high-quality economic growth and high-level ecological environmental protection, thereby using the green transformation as a driving force for high-quality development. How can we coordinate efforts to reduce carbon emissions, cut pollution, expand green spaces, and foster growth, so as to achieve a green and low-carbon transformation of the development model? These are not only important questions that China’s environmental economics community urgently needs to answer but also responsibilities that scholars must take on in this era. The China Environmental Economics Forum was established in 2021 to provide a high-level platform for experts and scholars in environmental economics to exchange ideas and contribute Chinese academic insights to achieving high-quality economic development in China. With the support of Management World magazine, the third China Environmental Economics Forum is scheduled to be held in Beijing on December 16, 2023. It will be hosted by Capital University of Economics and Business and organized by the School of Economics at the same university. The theme of this forum is “Promoting a Green Transformation of the Development Model.” Papers from scholars both at home and abroad are now being solicited; we welcome submissions from all interested researchers!

II. Submission RequirementsSubmissions for the forum must be original works not yet published, available in either Chinese or English. Chinese papers should follow the submission guidelines of Management World, while English papers should adhere to those of the American Economic Review. To facilitate anonymous review and communication, please ensure that author information (name, workplace, corresponding author, contact phone number, email address, etc.) is complete and accurate, and listed on a separate page unrelated to the main text.

III. Submission MethodPlease send the electronic version of your submission (in Microsoft Word format) to the email address environment_forum@cueb.edu.cn by November 19, 2023. Please indicate “China Environmental Economics Forum (First Author’s Name + Institution)” in the email subject, and name the file “Main Title of Submission + First Author’s Name”. Failure to follow these guidelines may affect the evaluation of your submission.

IV. Submission EvaluationThe forum will establish a paper evaluation committee and form multiple expert groups based on the research topics. Each expert group consists of scholars actively engaged in cutting-edge research in related fields to ensure fair evaluation of submissions. The paper evaluation committee is responsible for selecting papers for presentation. Authors of selected papers will receive notification of their selection and an invitation to attend by December 3, 2023.

V. Other Related MattersNo registration fee is required for this forum. Authors of selected papers are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation costs, while work meals during the forum will be provided free of charge by the organizers.
