Background of the Competition
At the general debate of the 75th United Nations General Assembly, President Xi Jinping announced that China will increase its national voluntary commitments, implement more effective policies and measures, strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, and work toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. At present, the transition to renewable energy in China and around the world still has a long way to go. To fulfill President Xi Jinping’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, the participation of private and public entities such as the business community and academia, as well as more young people entering the workforce, is essential.

The 5th “Gold Wind Cup” is jointly organized by Goldwind Science & Technology and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics at Tsinghua University, in collaboration with the Wind Energy Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Renewable Energy and the Wind Power Machinery Branch of the China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association.
In the 5th “Gold Wind Cup” Energy Innovation Challenge, Goldwind Science & Technology partners with 18 universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Renmin University of China, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beihang University, Xi’an Jiao Tong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), North China Electric Power University, and Xinjiang University. Using a forward-looking topic selection system and an innovatively structured competition format, the event aims to foster students’ interest and professional knowledge in the renewable energy sector, encourage more young people to contribute to global energy transition efforts, and jointly build a green future.
