Since 2018, 127 countries and regions have set carbon neutrality goals or visions. On September 22, 2020, China announced its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. Currently, industries worldwide are moving toward carbon neutrality. Under the current international circumstances, countries recognize climate change and carbon neutrality as crucial pathways for international cooperation. Four hundred multinational corporations have launched zero-carbon initiatives by 2040. In 2019, Amazon called on global businesses to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2040, becoming the first company to sign this important pledge—ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement’s 2050 target. As of February 28, 2023, a total of 404 companies worldwide have signed this initiative. Driven by multinational automakers and proactive actions from component giants, carbon neutrality in supply chains is emerging as a new trend in industrial development. Green energy, as a key means to achieve carbon neutrality, has become a core strategy for many multinational companies, with many pledging to use 100% green electricity. The cities in the Yangtze River Delta boast strong import and export trade vitality and a large number of multinational enterprises. These companies are eager to develop facilities for supplying and using clean energy sources such as solar, hydrogen, and biogas to secure low-carbon energy supplies and meet their carbon reduction needs. However, due to limited resource availability, the amount of clean energy available for development and use in the Yangtze River Delta region is very scarce. There is an urgent need for parks, enterprises, and low-carbon-related civil society organizations to discuss topics such as green power trading, cross-wall electricity sales, and corporate energy transformation, working together to increase the proportion of renewable energy used by enterprises.
